The Power of Self-Talk

Self-talk is how we speak to ourselves. It’s that little voice inside, or sometimes outside, our heads that likes to keep us company and let us know we’re not alone :) From the point of being a helpful, supportive friend, the idea of self-talk is lovely. However, it’s when our self-talk becomes harsh, critical and negative that this little voice can have a very big impact on how we feel about ourselves. 

Because it plays such a big role in how we feel about ourselves, self-talk forms a large part of our self-esteem and confidence. That’s why is very important to be aware of the way we talk to ourselves. Because if our self-talk is negative, we are going to continually diminish ourselves, decrease our self-esteem and lose any confidence we might have in sharing our voice with the world. When we can recognise negative self-talk and replace it with more positive self-talk, overtime we’ll increase our self-esteem, boost our optimism and feel more in control of what’s going on in our lives.
